Principal's Message
Dear Clinton Family!
Welcome to the 24/25 school year! I am excited to begin another school year here at Clinton as we work in partnership to ensure that every Clinton student actively participates in a rigorous learning experience. Our students will learn and explore while developing social-emotional skills that will foster resilience, perseverance, empathy, and the ability to collaborate and communicate in a diverse learning community. Our focus this year will be on providing students with exploration opportunities in the area of STEAM, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
We have lots to celebrate including some gains in terms of scores on the state test. We made gains in both ELA and Math. Hurray! We are also welcoming several new staff members including our new Vice Principal, Ms. Kalie Shaw who joins our team from the beautiful state of Hawaii!! We will also be inaugurating our new STEAM Lab and Esports lab, our new Wellness Center as an additional support for students, and the addition of an Intervention Center. The 24/25 school year will bring its own set of challenges but I am confident that with your support we can get through anything. I am thrilled for the opportunity to start a new year full of promise and excitement, success and celebration!.
Attendance continues to be of utmost importance. Attendance will be taken every morning and students will participate in a full day of learning. We know that there is a correlation between attendance and educational success, so please make every effort for your child to be present in school everyday. Our Attendance Theme is STRIVE FOR FIVE, which means that parents should strive to make sure that their child does NOT miss more than 5 days in one school year. Absences will only count once your child is entered into the system on their first day of school. For example, my child is present on the first day of school, August 15th but is absent on Friday, August 16th. Then my child has accumulated his/her first absence. Here is another example, my child does not report to school until Monday August 19th, since that is his/her first day of school… absences will be counted if they occur beginning August 20th. Parents I will be sending out more information about attendance soon. Please be on the lookout for that.
We have lots of plans to make this the best year at Clinton yet and we can’t wait to share all of that with you. At Clinton our students are the priority and we work hard to provide quality instruction.
Finally, Follow us on ParentSquare for key updates regarding the start of the new year as well as updates about events at our school throughout the school year. Please note that all parent meetings will take place virtually, by phone, electronic communication or by appointment for the time being. We are only able to help one or two families at a time in our small office, therefore appointments are highly encouraged.
Wishing you all a wonderful school year!
Susana Miranda,
Principal
